Vendor Returns

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out a way to manage vendor returns. Usually, we would create an RMA to send items back to a vendor and then record the credit once approved and issued by the vendor. So, far I have tried the following without success.

1. Created a new PO template called return goods but you cannot record a vendor credit to an existing PO

2. Existing PO will not allow for negative amounts

Has anyone found a solution to RMA on QB Premier Desktop?

Vendor Returns

Hi Walter88.

 

Being able to track your vendor returns and enter the credits or refunds into your company file is key to keeping your accounts and inventory up to date. I'd be happy to help you with entering refunds or credits into QuickBooks Desktop.

 

To enter vendor credits in QuickBooks Desktop you'll need to select Vendors>Enter Bills. This'll open the Enter Bills window and from there you'll need to select the Credit from the top of the Enter Bills screen. From there you should see the word credit show at the top of the form. Select the name of the vendor who issued the credit from the drop down menu. Make sure to enter the date as the date the credit was issued. 

 

As for removing the inventory from your account you can do so by going to inventory activities and selecting adjust quantities. Before doing this however I recommend reaching out to your accountant as they're trained in how to make these entries. If you don't have an accountant you can find one in your area by going to our Find an Accountant page.
