Can you have multiple companies on the app ?

One QBO account is for one company file. You may manage branches/divisions by utilizing the Class/Location feature available in QBO Plus. Otherwise you should open a new account.

Otherwise, consider using QB Desktop to manage multiple company files with a one time license. Deploy a private cloud if required to access your data by internet connection.

Can you have multiple companies on the app ?

Hi userbenfompa,

This is a great question, and I'd like to take a moment to clarify the options that have already been mentioned on this thread. I can absolutely see the use of being able to use your QuickBooks Online app for more than one company, and I can help by going over how this works.

The QuickBooks Online app, like the browser, is a login portal for you to access your QuickBooks Online account or accounts. This means that you can use the app to access more than one company by either using the option to Switch Company through the settings menu or by logging out and logging in if the login details are different.

If you're wondering if a QuickBooks Online subscription gives you the opportunity to create more than one company with a single subscription, what's been mentioned already is correct: one subscription manages one company. Unlike QuickBooks Desktop, there isn't a way to create multiple company files under a single subscription.

Like I said, it is possible to have multiple companies using the same login details though. All you need to do when you create a new account via qbo.ca's Plans & Pricing page is select Already have an Intuit account? Sign In on the page after you choose your plan. Then you can enter the same login details as before to link the accounts and be able to switch between them.

QuickBooks Desktop is certainly an alternative you can consider. You can have a subscription or one-time purchase license, both of which allow you to have more than one company file at a time. Since that version of the program is installed on a computer, to get the versatility of the cloud, you can consider hosting. There wouldn't, however, be an app option for your mobile device. Here are a few pages that go over these options.

If you have more questions, let me know. I'm here to help!

Hi steve. I understand how it feels to expect a seamless transition between platforms, only to find that the mobile experience isn’t matching up with how you need to work.

QuickBooks Online is strictly cloud-based, so you’ll always need an internet connection to sync your data. Since there is no offline mode, you can still keep track of your business off the grid by using a notes app, an offline spreadsheet, or snapping photos of your receipts to upload once you’re back online.

It is essential that each QBO subscription is associated with the same login credentials. If they differ from your Intuit login credentials for other companies, logging out and then logging back in to the specific company is the only option.

To see the option of Switch company in your QuickBooks Mobile App account, here’s how:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Mobile App, then log in.
  2. Select a company to start.
  3. Click the profile icon on the top left of the screen.
  4. Then switch companies.

If you were referring to the QuickBooks Online Desktop App, here is where to find the option to switch companies:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account in the Online Desktop App.
  2. Click the Gear icon.
  3. Under Profile, you can see Switch company.
