Im not a happy camper. I've been using QuickBooks online for a few years and lik4ed it very much. now the monthly cost has gone up and up and up and up. I'm a small business that doesn't need that kind of expense each month. I call about downgrading to a plan(Easy Start) that services my needs. all i do is invoicing, expenses, and estimate and print out some reports. I cant export to a desktop version where you bite the bullet and cry once and get it. I cant downgrade easy start(attachments) cant be migrated or saved. IM NOT HAPPY!!! There are developers out there that write quickbooks addons, would they be able to make an exporter and importer?
The desktop version of Quickbooks is also subscription based, as of the 2022 version. The cost for someone else to export and import your data may be more than you are willing to budget for. You could print out all the necessary reports from QBO to pdf and then start your new software with balance forward figures.
Hi Kenallen,
Welcome to Community! Thank you for being a valued customer of QuickBooks Online. I can appreciate where you're coming from with owning a small business and how increasing costs can affect so many aspects of it. With QuickBooks Online and the many valuable features offered with each product, you also have the ability to export your data to an excel spreadsheet, for which you can save to your computer for future importing in other QuickBooks products. In addition, if you're not able to downgrade from your current subscription, that would be in relation to underlying factors such as perhaps you've turned on multicurrency, added users to your account, track time or inventory or use the project feature, this would be why the downgrade option isn't available. I'd be happy to guide you through the steps to export your data and get you where you'd like to be with QuickBooks Easy Start.
Here's how to export your data:
1. Click on the Gear in the top right of your dashboard and select Export Data (under Tools)
2. You'll see two tabs, click on Reports and turn the toggle switches to on
3. Hit Export to Excel
4. Save the document to a folder on your desktop for easy access
Repeat the steps for Lists
You've successfully exported your data!
You can create a new company with QuickBooks Easy Start and import your data to the new account, however, I suggest cancelling your current subscription to avoid any future charges. Once you cancel the account, you'll be able to access it for one year from the cancellation date should you need any other information in the future.
Here's how to cancel the account:
1.From the Gear icon, select Account and Settings
2. From the left menu, choose Billing and Subscription
3. Click on the link to Cancel your subscription
4. Follow the prompts and be sure to hit Done
After you've set up your new account, learn how to import your data from excel here.
Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns. We'd be happy to help!
