Importing excel files helps reduce time recording. It is a great tool by QBO to help any business get their books done.
I just want to make sure that all steps have been followed before we troubleshoot more.
Before you can start to import your file, you'll need to install the QuickBooks Import Excel and CSV toolkit. Here's how:
These articles contain detailed steps on how you can import the data successfully: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/Import-export-CSV-files/m-p/201366 and https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Getting-Started/Import-export-overview/m-p/203723.

What kind of transaction data do yo need to import? Bank statement or else?
Hello manymaples15,
It's been a while since your last post to the QuickBooks Community and I hope you've been well! I want to make sure you have the correct information for importing your Excel files into QuickBooks Online, and I can absolutely help you with this.
When importing files into QuickBooks Online, it's important to match the formatting that QuickBooks asks for. You can do this by opening and editing your Excel file to match the options available. You can even try changing the date format that's the default for your QuickBooks Online setup by going to the Gear icon, choosing Account and settings, selecting Advanced, and then clicking the Other preferences section. Keep in mind that if your Excel file has a date format that QuickBooks doesn't accept, then you'll need to change the file.
Some upload processes also have specific date options that may be separate from even what you've set as the default in your settings. Usually these are seen during the upload process and then you change your file accordingly. The resources already provided on this thread are for QuickBooks Desktop US, so for QuickBooks Online Canada, please use the following links to learn more about importing.
Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks
Give those a go and let me know if you have further questions or need an extra hand.
If you'd rather not have to reformat your Excel file, you can consider third-party import options available through the Apps tab. Select that tab in the left menu of your account and then use the search bar to research apps that can import different sets of data for you.
Wishing you the best with this!
Hi. I have experimented for the last 3-4 hours attempting to input bank transactions from a vendor that does not have QBO data. So I imported the bank data in to Excel and am now attempting to import Excel in to QB Desktop. The issue I continue to run in to is when I set up the mappings using advanced import, it will not import the amounts of each daily transactions. I am receiving an error message (from the QB error log) stating "You can only set opening balances for new records". That is because the only field when setting up the mapping is the Opening Balance field. Thus I renamed the header in QuickBooks as "Opening Balance". Does anybody know how I can import daily sales transactions in to QuickBooks with the dollar amounts for each transaction? Thank you in advance for your help!
Sorry. The above should have read "That is because the only AMOUNT field when setting up the mapping is the Opening Balance field."
Prepare the Sales Receipt data with the following template

Thank you. So it's necessary to have a third party program, correct? Cannot be done without a third party software?
Correct. IIF only offers a very limited function.
