Why doesn't Intuit Canada just tell us there are currently no secure or user-friendly ways around 2-factor authentication for banking connections? Turning off 2-factor authentication temporarily in the bank app is an irresponsible cop-out. Nor should users have to resort to manual downloads. Clearing the browser cache may correct some issues but won't solve this issue.
For now pleas make it explicit that for now there is no way around 2-factor for bank connections and as a consequence:
The current restrictions are not entirely on Intuit or the financials institutions. There are no technological barriers to resolving this issue. Only twill to act and work together with I believe it is Intuit's responsibility to take a lead on resolving this issue on behalf of all its users
I write to update my post to correct some lost text in my second last sentence. It was meant to read:
"Only the will to act and work together with online banking partners."
Hi john reece,
Thanks for reaching out to us here. QuickBooks Online requires multi-factor authentication for security purposes. You'll be asked to verify your identity to ensure secure access when you connect your accounts. It's important to note that Multifactor Authentication is a security feature that cannot be turned off, as it is required by most financial institutions.
Feel free to reach out again, if you have any other questions or concerns. We would be glad to help!
Thanks Trish for making this restriction clear. One reason I wrote was to point out this was not being made clear in answers to similar questions on the community. I trust that this will be part of the answer to related questions going forward.
The second reason I wrote was to point out my disappointment that Intuit doesn't seem to acknowledge this is a usability issue for many QBO users and a pain point for some. Intuit should be motivated to work with financial institutions towards a better alternative.
