Check numbers not recording properly

I have noticed if the vendor name is too large that it will cause the name to print onto the second check but does not properly record that check number on the second check and this records the whole run of checks incorrectly relative to the number on the check? Is there not a protection feature in the system to prevent this from occurring.

Check numbers not recording properly

Hi Mike 14,

It's vital your cheques are printing the right way and I'll be happy to share more info on that. QuickBooks offers a versatile platform that makes it simple to complete your work so you can get back to doing the things you love.

Based on what you've described, I recommend making sure that the name of the vendor fits the name filed. I can see the benefit of having the name print on one cheque and I encourage you to send feedback about this to our engineers. To do this, click on the Gear icon and look for Feedback. Product  ideas and enhancements are largely based on the feedback we get from users like you.

In the meantime, feel free to ask other questions, I'm here to help you achieve your QuickBooks goals.

Check numbers not recording properly

Being able to process your checks without any issues, @Dave Stahl.

Before we report this issue to our engineers, I have a couple of suggestions to resolve this problem. For now, try to open your account in a private web browser and print the checks from there. We need check if this is a caching problem.

Unexpected issues with the features in QuickBooks, like printing vendor or sales forms, are sometimes associated with the amount of data stored in the cache. This is because a regular browser will constantly overwrite itself and will not remove history unless done manually.

Private browsing will not save any history, so it's a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

If the problem doesn't come up, clear the cache to resolve browser issues in QBO. You can also use a different browser and see if the issue persists there.

Please come back here and update me with the result. I want to get this resolved for you and I'm here anytime. Have a good one!
