Credit from Visa

Hi

Our Visa gave us a credit in our Statement for $8.25

However, when I enter it as a Credit Note, when I am reconciling the Credit Card, it shows up as a payment.

I saw this post below.

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/credit-balance-refund-from-credit-...

I followed it and entered it as a "Purchase/Charge", then I went back to my reconciliation, and looked only on the Credit / Payment side, and saw that the $8.25 is there. I was glad, and quickly clicked Reconcile now. I'm glad I was able to reconcile my Visa Statement.

However, a $8.25 is still showing up on the left side (Payments/charges). Now, I don't know what to get rid of this. If I try to delete it says, Quickbooks does not like that, etc...

So, I did a test, and apparently, when I created the same entry, I see that it shows up both on the left and right side of the reconciliation. Why is that so?

I tried creating a "Credit Note", and that one only shows up on the left side (Payment/Charges).

Thank you for any help.

A.

It's a pleasure to have you here, @Abskiboo.

I want to make sure you have a smooth reconciliation in QuickBooks Desktop.

Regarding the credit notes, it's normal for them to be added as Payments and Credits. However, for Credit Card Purchase/Credits, they are normally listed under Charges and Cash Advances, not on both reconciliation sides.

For this, you'll need to delete the sample entry to avoid messing up the balance of your credit card account. You can also review the transactions in the Reconcile page by double-clicking the transaction and making sure the entries are correct.

If you're still unable to delete the other entry, I do recommend reaching out to our Support Team for help. Our agents can help you diagnose the problem and can provide additional troubleshooting steps.
