Customer contact info window has changed format

Customer contact info window has changed. and is now drop-downs on the RH side of the screen. 

To view any information, each tab has to be expanded. This is crazy and such a time waster!

 

How do I get the previous version where all the info was in one view back?

It's nice to see you reaching out to Community.  Welcome!  Changes can be difficult to adjust to and QuickBooks takes this into perspective when making product improvements and upgrades.  I'd be happy to give more detail!

In this case, it's not just adjusting to a change! It used to take only one mouse click to navigate to the customer edit window, and then I could tab through the fields to quickly update them. Now it takes several clicks to navigate through the different parts of the customer edit side panel.

 

In addition, the "Customer name" field used to auto-populate based on the data entered into the First name, Last name, etc fields. It no longer does this, meaning I have to type each name twice. Finally, it used to auto-format a phone number after it was typed or copied in. For e.g. typing 1234567890 would auto-update to 123-456-7890.

 

Each of these changes has added a few seconds to the update process. If you're just updating a customer or two it's not a big deal, but if you're updating many the extra seconds add up. I estimate it takes about three times longer to update customers than it used to.

 

This could be alleviated by switching back to the old customer edit interface or, even better, by enhancing the import customers function. I'm not sure why the import fields are so restricted in the import process. It would be nice to be able to be able to import First name, Last name, and Notes fields, for instance. In addition, many applications allow updating customer records through the import process, but Quickbooks Online does not have that ability.

 

When you start using a solution, you expect that solution to improve over time, or at minimum stay the same. I will be strongly advocating that my organization switch to a different accounting solution based on these changes.
