Hello,

I am learning to use QuickBooks with the hope of becoming more appealing to employers. I have started researching the QuickBooks desktop option. Now I feel like I am reading and memorizing the steps and sections, but I do not have any data to apply the knowledge to. I see a sample company (Green Tree Landscapes) and its answer key, but that is geared towards QuickBooks online. where can I find the desktop equivalent source data to create a company from ground up using the information available on Intuit?

thank you

You may utilize the sample file available in QB Desktop trial license.

Hi Timmy. It's great you're looking to sharpen your skills so you can become more appealing to employers. QuickBooks is an easy-to-use program that makes it simple for business owners to bring their financials into focus. Since you'd like to apply what you've learned, I recommend exploring the free version of QuickBooks Desktop. You can learn more about downloading it using this link here. Give this a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be one message away.

Hi,

Thank you for responding, I have downloaded the free trial, and I have started using it. the issue is the data necessary to use the software. I started to create a company but I want a realistic company with real world transactions. Intuit has a case sample for the online version of quickbooks, but none for the desktop version. I was hoping to see one or learn how to get access to one of the sample company. just so I can practice each section, like add new customers, payments etc. It is hard to create all these transactions while learning to use the software

Congrats on downloading the free trial. Once you've opened the file, you'll get a prompt to Open a Sample File. I encourage you to click on that option and here's a screenshot for visual reference:
