I am wondering if it is possible to show the breakdown of taxes charged on an invoice as well as apply more than one tax on an item? I am trying to create an invoice for accommodation, here in BC that requires 3 taxes to be applied. It appears I can only add one tax , and if I use a combination of the 3 taxes that I create it doesn't separate them. Any help appreciated.
Hi @Songbird99,

It is possible to show the breakdown of taxes charged on an invoice and apply more than one tax on an item in QuickBooks Online. Here's how you can do it:
1. Set Up Multiple Sales Tax Items: Go to the Item List and create multiple sales tax items. Each tax item should have its own name, description, tax rate, and tax agency information.
2. Create a Subtotal Item: In the Item List, create a subtotal item. This will help separate the taxes on the invoice.
3. Create the Invoice: When creating the invoice, add the taxable items and assign the appropriate sales tax code to each item. After adding all taxable items, add the subtotal item.
4. Ensure Default Tax is 0.0%: Make sure the default tax in the box below the body of the invoice is set to 0.0%. This allows the body of the invoice to properly calculate the sales tax rates by item.
By following these steps, you should be able to display the breakdown of the different taxes applied on your invoice.
Let me know if this information helps. I'm here to steer you in the right direction with navigating the program.
This works if you have multiple list Items. When its accommodation it is just one item on the list that needs to have more than one tax applied. Do I just create my own tax that includes all three taxes? If I do that it obviously wont separate the taxes at the bottom.
