I got error message "something went wrong and we could not add an employee" while adding new employee in payroll. I purchased QBO essentials with QBO payroll core.

Hi, Pallavi. Common factors for this issue include browser data conflicts or validation failures triggered by specific employee details such as an incorrect Social Insurance Number (SIN) format or special characters in a name.

 

To resolve this, start by reviewing the employee's profile to ensure their name and SIN are entered correctly, without any extra spaces or symbols. Next, confirm that your Payroll Settings including your CRA Business Number (BN), tax setup, and work location are complete before attempting to add the employee again.

 

If the error persists, try accessing QuickBooks Online in an incognito window. This helps resolve issues caused by corrupted files or browser settings. Also, ensure your browser is supported and up-to-date for optimal performance and security.
