I have mileage tracking enabled with all app permissions set to allow it and unrestricted battery and data usage. I have stopped tracking trips completely a few days ago

Something must be wrong with the app. I did a full reinstall and cleared the cache but I am still not tracking trips on the Mileage tracker.

I appreciate your initiative in performing the initial troubleshooting steps to get the mileage tracker working again, @anavaino. Let’s build on the steps you’ve already taken and explore a few additional ones, such as checking your device's location settings to ensure the app tracks your trips accurately and consistently.

Even if permissions have been granted within the app, the device's general location settings can sometimes interfere with automatic tracking. To resolve this, let's confirm the QuickBooks mobile app runs in the background.

  1. In your iPhone or iPad's Settings, scroll down to select the QuickBooks app.
  2. Navigate to Location and set it to Always.
  3. Turn on the options for Motion & Fitness, Background App Refresh, and Cellular Data.
  4. Close your settings.
  5. If you see a message about background location use, select Always Allow.

For Android devices, double-check that QuickBooks is allowed to track your location in the background. As the process varies depending on the device, Google provides instructions that you can follow to make these adjustments.

On another note, make sure that your Wi-Fi is not connected to a hotspot while driving, as this can interfere with accurate trip recording.

QuickBooks also has a useful mileage troubleshooting tool built into the app settings. Review the list to verify that everything is marked with a green check.

If your phone has third-party antivirus programs, battery-saver apps, or memory boosters, these could block mileage tracking. Look for an option to add QuickBooks to their permission or approved lists. For detailed steps and fixes, check this article: Fix mileage tracking issues in the mobile app.

In the meantime, you can record the trips manually to keep your records up to date.
