The issue may be related to recent CRA updates requiring a Representative Identifier (RepID) for the electronic filing of T4. The RepID is mandatory if you’re filing as a representative and must be different from your Business Number (BN), missing or incorrect information here can cause rejections.
To update this in QuickBooks Online:
- Click the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.
- Go to Federal Tax.
- Click View/Edit next to the Business Number field and complete authentication.
- Enter your 7-digit alphanumeric RepID in the designated field.
- Click Save.
