hi @DCB337 ,
Did you try the Layout Designer to resize the box on your template form?
From reading Help it sounded like the Designer only works on forms such as invoices, estimates, receipts, etc.
I'll look at it and hopefully I'm wrong and it does change the Create Customer boxes.
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear in my original post. The field boxes I need to make bigger are the boxes on the New Customer & Job creation page. It seems to me that if the information in the "Company Name" field or box is too small then, no amount of fiddling with an invoice with the Layout Designer is going to make information appear that isn't in the "Company Name" field in the New Customer creation page for the customer. So if on the Company Name field on the New Customer page is only 30 characters, those are the only characters you can play with via the Layout Designer even though the actual name of the Customer is 45 characters long.
Unfortunately that is one of the limitation of Desktop version. Some fields only allow up to 31 characters. You don't have any choice but shorten it and put the the complete information in description field.
That would work if I can use the Layout Designer will print the Notes or Description fields. I'm looking at that now. Thanks for your help, BTW.
So far, I'm really not that impressed with QB. My CPA is doing cartwheels, however. She loves QB as many of her clients use it.
I noticed you mentioned regarding converting from other system. You may consider a 3rd party data importing tools (like TPI) to speed up the work as well.

Hope it helps.
