Hello Community,
I have been using QB 2013 Premier US edition desktop and want to migrate to QB 2021 Pro Canadian edition desktop. I was supposed to do it a year ago after I purchased the 2021 edition but I could never find time to do it till now. Is there a way to do this with a simple backup and restore function? I seem to recall from the online searches I did last year that this was not possible. I unfortunately can't track the notes and emails I wrote on this matter. Could someone kindly tell me if this is possible and if not what options I have. I need to be able to retain my COA, invoices, payments/deposits, customers and vendors. I do not use other QB features, including payroll or inventory.
Many thanks in advance to all those kind souls ... Carlos

Hi there CarlosF1288,
It's important that all your transactions are correctly entered for your books to be well balanced. QuickBooks Desktop is a great tool able to help you keep track of your transactions so your financials can easily be viewed. I can provide some information about importing information.
As both of your QuickBooks Desktop programs are from different regions, the ability to transfer one backup to the other software would not be able to be used. In order to import some information, you could use files to do so. IIF, Excel, and CSV files are some of the accepted file formats to import certain lists and transactions. The linked article has steps to import various information and what file formats are accepted, so you can get your information set up as quickly as possible.
