Password Protected Transaction

Using QB Desktop, how can I see a list of previous year, password protected transactions that were made using the internal password? Is there a way to create a report for previous year's transactions created using the password? I need to see which transactions were made after the year was closed.

Password Protected Transaction

In QuickBooks Desktop, to access a list of transactions from the previous year protected by a password, you can launch the company file and verify your identity by inputting the appropriate password, Sheila.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to generate a report for the previous year's transactions:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop and open your company file.
  2. Enter the password if prompted to access the file.
  3. Go to the Reports menu at the top.
  4. Choose Custom Reports and then click Transaction Detail.
  5. In the Transaction Detail Report setup:
    • Set the date range to cover the previous fiscal year or specific dates you want to review.•
    • Click on the Filters tab.
    • Scroll down and select Entered/Last Modified.
    • Set the date range.
    • Optionally apply additional filters if you have other parameters or specific accounts you want to review.
  6. Click Ok to generate the report.

This report shows all transactions entered or modified after the end of the fiscal year.

For future reference, here is an article you can refer to in memorizing your report customization to easily access the same format: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Let me know if you have further questions about running Transaction Detail reports in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.

If you don't have the Admin password, you can purchase a 3rd party service to reset the password.
