Pay roll tax

To make multiple payments for payroll tax liabilities, you can pay them outside of QuickBooks Online and then record each one. Let me guide you through the process, @qbdt_jmrestorati.

Please note that making multiple payments for payroll tax liabilities at once is unavailable in QBO. If you need to pay more than one, you can do so outside of QuickBooks and then record each payment in QuickBooks afterward.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Taxes and select Payroll tax.
  2. Click the Payments tab.
  3. Find and select the tax payment you want to record.
  4. If the payment is listed, select Mark as paid from the dropdown. If not, you can add the payment.
  5. From the option Do you want this recorded in your books?:
  6. To manually handle the transaction outside QuickBooks, select No, I’ll pay and post this transaction either in or out of QuickBooks.
  7. To record the payment in QuickBooks, select Yes, I want this payment synced with my QuickBooks accounts.
    • If printing a check, select Add to print cheque queue.
    • Choose a bank account from the Record to dropdown.
    • Select the payment date.
    • Enter the Cheque number and any Notes.
  8. Click Mark paid, then Done.

To record the multiple payments, repeat the steps outlined above.

For thorough guidance about the process, check out this reference: Record tax payments made outside of QuickBooks Online Payroll.

When you want to record tax payments for periods before using QuickBooks Payroll, you can enter historical payroll tax payments. This feature helps ensure your records are complete and up-to-date.

Managing your payroll tax payments is our main focus, and the QuickBooks Community team is always ready to help, @qbdt_jmrestorati. Please don't hesitate to post more questions with payroll tax liabilities. We're here to help.
