I'm a pretty big fan of the "Show bank details" function for matching/adding my downloaded bank transactions in QBO. The biggest reason is that the bank details shows the names of who e-transfers were sent to and from (with this one particular bank I'm working with). But with the latest update, every single time I add or match a transaction, the page reloads and the "show bank details" option is unselected by default. So every single time I add a transaction, I have to click on the settings and select "show bank details." Every single time. How little insignificant things can really mess with your day.
Hi MelissaHK,
The bank feed is one of the most convenient features in QuickBooks Online in order to save time and effort with your bookkeeping tasks. It's important that the use of this tool is made simple, with additional info being available like "Bank Details". I'd be happy to point you in the right direction for help with this.
In order to review the bank details when adding or matching your transactions from the bank feed, you'll have to click to expand the transaction. The bank details will be displayed at the bottom of this expanded screen. Prior to the latest update, the bank details were also displayed here, so I'd like to take a closer look at what you were seeing before.
Please reach out to an agent on the tech support team directly so that this can be investigated further. It's important that we have more account-specific information of what you were seeing before the update, versus after. I'm confident an agent will be able to sort this out for you in no time.
Have a great day.
My apologies, I should have been a bit more clear. On the banking tab, in the gear icon for settings (the same line as the export and print icons), where you get select what to show, there is an option to show the bank details as opposed to QuickBooks' interpretation of what the memo/line description should be. Before the update, once you selected it, it stay selected. As of today, it de-selects every time the page is reloaded. As someone who does bookkeeping full time at an accounting firm for many clients, I can guarantee this did not happen before the update.
I know I can click on the transaction to expand, but once you click on another transaction, then it is the new one that is expanded. So I want to see the bank details showing no matter if I have a transaction expanded or not.
If you think it is worth reporting this to tech support, then I will. This is really disappointing to lose a smooth function that worked just fine before, and I personally see this as something that does need fixing.
I see what you're saying now. Thanks for sending over more information. I can see how having this setting get de-selected each time you load a new page would put a dent in your workflow, as it's definitely intended to remember your selection. In this case, I'd recommend completing some browser troubleshooting to make sure there's no bugs causing this issue.
1. Try clearing the cache and cookies.
2. Use an Incognito browser.
3. Try using an alternative browser.
If you're noticing that the issue persists after this troubleshooting, then I'd encourage you to touch base with support so we can investigate this further.
Have a great day!
Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried all of them, and no luck. I guess I'll contact tech support then.
Thanks
Melissa
Hey there, just as an update, I contacted tech support. They were able to duplicate the same problem. The agent I spoke to has passed along the feedback to the development team, and hopefully the next time they do an update this will get fixed.
In the meantime, I decided for this client to select the option to copy bank text to the memo. This way the show bank detail option will not de-select. But you do have to show the bank details. Otherwise, even though the bank text has been copied to the memo line, that doesn't copy it to the description. What a weird coding thing. Definitely something got broken in their update here. But at least I'm able to see what I need to see.
Hi MelissaHK. Thanks for sharing these updates! I'm glad the agent was able to help you with a workaround while our development team looks into things.
