Hi stopattheoffice.
Importing directly from square is a great way to get all your transactions as well as your products and services without having to enter them again. I'd be happy to go over what happens to your current product and services items when you import from square.
When you import your product and services list it won't overwrite any of your previous information in your QuickBooks Online account. In fact it will just create all the imported information as new items unless you map them to the current items you use during the import. I recommend going over this article on how to import and set up your connection with Square.
If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
Hi Nick,
Thank you for your reply. My client wanted to set up the Square sync with QuickBooks so I didn't do any research until recently. The sync from Square to QuickBooks seemed to be working except for the Products/Services that were in Square and not in QuickBooks, which created the Square Item transactions. After reading the article you referenced I see that the product/service list should have been imported from Square in the initial setup. I assume you would also import this list to QBO after adding new products in Square.
My client said they would do the import from Square to QuickBooks but if they do not map the products correctly and two products are created, can you merge the two products?
Thanks, Ruth
