Hi,
I am a Canadian based company. I have a vendor who charges me in USD. The same vendor charges me sales tax but in CDN dollars. I register the expense in USD but I don't know how to apply the Canadian GST and PST to the expense since they are in CDN.
Has anyone encountered this dilemma before?
Thanks!

Hi Idjit,
Welcome! It's great to see you reaching out to Community for assistance with recording sales tax on your imported goods. With QuickBooks Online, you have the option to make this type of entry to ensure your transactions are accurate and ready to reconcile when the time comes. I'd be happy to help!
Here's how to record Canadian Sales Tax on imported goods:
1. Click on Expenses from the left navigation bar
2. From the + New tab, select Expense
3. On the first line, under Account/Category details, select an expense account related to the imported goods
4. Enter 0.01 in the Amount field
5. Select the appropriate tax code that you've paid.
6. For the second line, choose the same account in the Account column
7. Place -0.01 as the Amount
8. Choose “out of scope” for the tax code.
9. Below the Subtotal enter the amount paid for each tax type.
When you're done, Select Save.
That's it!
