Upgrading QB 2009 to QB 2020

Hi Allan,

Thanks for taking the time to connect with us here. I'll be happy to share more details about upgrading so you can enjoy the program's newer features.

Here's how to upgrade:

  1. Select Help, and then Upgrade QuickBooks.
  2. Select the version you want to upgrade to, then select Upgrade Now.
  3. You can keep a copy of your current version of QuickBooks. Select Keep old version on my computer, then select Let’s go.

Here's a helpful article with more info about: Upgrading QuickBooks Desktop. I encourage you to go through the article and feel free to ask questions. I'll be one message away in case you need anything else.

Upgrading QB 2009 to QB 2020

Thanks James. Are you saying within QB 2009 under help there will be a reference to QB 2020 that you can upgrade to.

Is there is any functionality within QB 2020 help to select QB 2009

You'd have to download QuickBooks Desktop 2020 first in order for you to access it. Here's a link that takes you to the QuickBooks Desktop download page. Give this a try and let me know what happens, I'll be on standby.

@Allan Wainwright

1. Open your file on QBD 2009 and create a backup file (QBB)

2. Install your QBD 2020 and restore the backup file on it.
