We really need to condense our quickbooks database, because it have been used over 15 years. It is getting larger and larger everyday. However, we have no way to shrink it, because we are using the quickbooks Canadian version. I really don't understand what the reason is. In addition, I tried to make a program to search data by itemsites table, actually there is not the itemsites table in quickbooks canadian version. finally, I couldn't make it. For me, these problems are so weird. We are the customers of the Quickbooks, we pay for Quickbooks every month. Quickbooks company cut off the functions in Quickbooks Canadian version, it is not reasonable.
You may consider to purchase the outright license and a 3rd party condense service.
Hi peter zhu,
In Canadian QuickBooks Desktop we know keeping your company information is what helps your business continue to grow. Sometimes that means the file gets to big to use but don't worry, we got you covered on this. I can help walk you through ways to keep your historical information while making the file smaller.
While the American version is the only one with the ability to condense and compress your info, the Canadian version has ways to do the same but with different steps. There are two ways of going about this. First would be to create a company based on an existing file. What this does is creates a company file based off your old company and moves over balances and lists such as customer and vendor. This allows you remove old receipts or items you no longer need while bringing over the information needed to continue your business. We generally recommend doing this on year ends so you can have a clean set of books for the new year while still having your historical data as well. This can be done by going to File>Create Company from Existing Company File. You then select the file you've been using and create a name for the new one. Another way would be to create a new company file and export the information over using IIF transfer. This will allow you to pick what comes over and fine tune what you want to see in the new company. This article will go over how to export, import and edit IIF files.
If you want to have the ability to compress files included in QuickBooks Desktop I recommend submitting feedback to our product development team to let them know you'd like to have that included. It's a simple process that you can do by following these steps: Help>Send Feedback Online>Product Suggestions.
Hope this was able to help.
You may want to consider using a 3rd party service to supercondense the file. PM if you need any recommendations for a service that can do it quick and affordably.

I clicked the link in your response and searched for "condense". There was only one hit and it was not relevant.
Can you suggest any condense utilities for QBDT Canadian version.
The Condense Data utility is only available on QBD US version. Why do you need to condense your file? Do you need to lower your file size or migrate to QBO CA?
Thank you for replying so quickly.
The .QBW file is over 500MB and goes back to 2006. We only need regular access to the data for the last two years.
You have to purchase a 3rd party condense service. Contact us in private for assistance.
You have clicked a link to a site outside of the QuickBooks or ProFile Communities. By clicking "Continue", you will leave the community and be taken to that site instead.
