Writing Checks

Hi;

I wrote some checks in Quick Books Online. But without applying any credit Note QuickBooks online made a short payment by itself?

So I put a tick next to bills which I wanted to pay, but it paid them partial amounts!

Could you please let me know how can I fix this issue?

Thanks,

Writing Checks

Hi Avideh,

Welcome to Community!  Based on the information you've provided, it seems that QuickBooks Online has determined a possible credit note that may have been created previously.  I'd be happy to help you with this!

If there's an existing credit note, when you go to pay bills for that supplier, QuickBooks automatically applies it to the bills.  If you meant to pay the bills in full, you can just remove any credits that have been applied.  I'll walk you through the steps!

1. Go to the +New icon and then Pay Bills

2. Checkbox the Bills to be paid

3. In the Credit Applied column, remove the amount to Zero it out

4. The Payment amount will automatically adjust

You can also manually change the payment amounts for each bill.

When you're ready, be sure to hit Save and Close in the bottom right corner.

If you need additional assistance or have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out.  We're glad to assist!

Writing Checks

Hi Trish;

Thank you for your reply. I would like to apply the credit notes by my choice not automatically being applied by the system.

Is there any way that I can deactivate this feature in QuickBooks online? Exactly the same way that it was in QuickBooks desktop.

Thank you,

Writing Checks

Hi Avideh,

Welcome back!  I can understand your preference for applying credit notes manually as you see fit.  QuickBooks Online has you covered.  I'd be happy to guide you through the steps to set up automation.  Here's how!

1. Click on the Gear in the top right

2. Go to Account and Settings

3. From the left menu, select Advanced

4. Scroll down to Automation

5. At the far right, click on the Edit pencil

6. Turn off the Toggle button beside automatically apply credits

Make any other choices as necessary

7. Hit Save and then Done

You're all set!
