Hello natalieparsons-1,

Welcome to Community!  I can understand how the loss of connection with your financial institution and QuickBooks Online, can have a negative impact on your day.  When this happens, our Development Team prioritizes the investigation, so you can update your transactions as soon as possible.  However, some issues may take a little longer to resolve.  To ensure your books are accurate, and prevent any associated fees, you can manually upload your transactions.  I would be happy to show you how!

Before proceeding, It's important to make note of the last transaction in QuickBooks, to prevent any duplicate entries. Follow these steps to locate the information:

1. Open your Settings ⚙ and select Chart of Accounts

2. Locate the account in your list and select Account history t

3. Write down the date of the last transaction

Next, sign in to your bank or credit card's website.

2. Make sure the date range for the transactions according to the date of the last transaction in QuickBooks

3. Follow your bank's instructions to download your file in CSV format, and save the file somewhere you can easily find it.

4. Open and review the file to make sure it's in the correct format before you upload it.

Follow these steps to upload the transactions into QuickBooks Online:

1. Login to QuickBooks Online

2. From the Transactions menu, select the Banking

3. Click the blue tile for the account you're uploading the transactions into

4. Select the ▼ dropdown arrow beside Link account and then Upload from file

5. Hit Browse and select the CSV file you downloaded from your bank, then click Next

6. From the Account ▼ dropdown, choose your account and hit Next

7. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks and hit Next

8. Select the transactions to import and continue through the prompts

9. Choose Yes to continue

9. When you're ready, hit Done.

If you notice any duplicate entries, here's how to remove them:

1. From the For Review tab, checkmark the box beside all duplicated entries

2. Select Exclude

You can permanently delete the transactions from the Excluded tab by selecting all items and then hit Delete. This process is irreversible and any transactions deleted in error will need to be recreated manually.

You're ready to match and categorize your transactions.  Here's a helpful guide for future reference, to assist with manually uploading transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out. We would love to help!

@natalieparsons-1

You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.

Don’t even start me with QuickBooks and customer service

I just tried to transfer from desktop to online only to find out that online was nowhere near capable of doing anything that desktop can do

Unfortunately, my desktop subscription wound up getting cancelled before I totally found out that online was beyond less than adequate

Do you think I could get back to my original 2022 subscription of desktop?

Of course I couldn’t

Now they’re trying to rape and pillage to me and my poor Farm business trying to get more money. I can’t afford it.

@Scoodic

Which QB Desktop year version did you use? 2023 or 2024?

Yep I believe it.  They 'double charged' me for 6 months and when I created a claim to get my money back; they said that I was not eligible for a refund!!! So I went to Visa and showed them the emails and the visa statements of double charging and they got my money back. This is extremely bad business and unethical. I honestly wish that I could provide a better service...maybe one day I'll meet the right business partner and blow these companies out of the water. Small Businesses deal with so much and have too many costs, we need services that support small businesses not make our lives harder. I am forced to use Quickbooks cause I was using Sage and they lost all of my information - so I was screwed and spent months piecing everything back together. I am having a hard time finding a service that I trust for my bookkeeping. Quickbooks - DO BETTER!

hahaha. There should not be 20 extra steps every time I do bookkeeping. This service is expensive for small business and takes a lot of my time. Sure thanks for the 20 min solution. I am honestly debating on going back to my simple spreadsheet and imputing all the information myself. The amount of time I spend contacting support is more than what I used to spend having actual ledger books 15 years ago!
