Vendor Currency changed and locked without my consent

Hi adriang-canada,

It's nice to see you in Community.  Welcome back! QuickBooks Online enables you to add customers and suppliers with foreign currency.  However, having the currency edited can definitely cause some concern.  I'd be happy to provide some insight here!

When adding a new supplier to your list, you can include the associated currency.  This cannot be changed, once the supplier has been saved.  I suggest reviewing your list of suppliers to ensure a secondary supplier hasn't been created.  I also recommend going to your Settings ⚙ and select Audit log.  This will provide you with details of activity within your books.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach back out.  We would be glad to assist!

Vendor Currency changed and locked without my consent

Hi Trish T,

Thanks for the response. Here is what happened.

2018 I started the company with multi currency.
Our Major supplier is in South Africa and gives us our pricing in South African Rands from 6 to 12 months fixed.
We have always entered this pricing (as South African Rands) in the product/services / Purchasing information / Cost
This is done so when an estimate is accepted, we can convert directly to the purchase order and the correct South Africa Rand price is already in.
The CAD value may change at the time of payment, but the purchase price is fixed in South African Rands.

Now, out of the blue, the Cost is CAD which means that when I convert to a PO. The original South African price is multiplied by the currency difference of the CAD. All our pricing is totally out.

Moving forward, we were told by QB support after an hour on the phone, that they see the problem, but they don not know how to fix it and they are not sure how I have managed to have the Cost in South African Rands in the past.

We are very concerned as I have another business which we are now looking into. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Welcome back, adriang-canada.

In addition to the valuable information provided above, I recommend taking a look a the prices listed within the products and services by following these steps:

  1. On the left navigation menu, Select "Sales"
  2. Chose "Products and Services"
  3. Locate the product you wish to view
  4. Hit "Edit" under the Action column
  5. Make sure all information, including cost, is accurate

If you're able to confirm the information is correct, I encourage you to clear your cache and cookies, or try on a private browser as it may be browsing data on your system that is preventing the software from doing what it is supposed to do.

Feel free to reach back out with any other questions you may have.
