As noted in your post, credits can be applied automatically when the feature is turned on. However, if you prefer to review the information and apply the credits manually you can turn the feature off by following these steps:
1. From the Gear in the top right, open Account and settings
2. Click on the Advanced tab and select the Edit ✎ to the far right of the Automation section
3. Move the toggle to the off position beside Automatically apply credits
4. Select Save
5. Hit Done
