Customer detail report by Tag

Hi --

We are a nonprofit community theater. I would like to be able to track donations by specific funds (one of our board members recently passed away, and we received donations earmarked for a memorial fund). I created a Tag Group called "Donations," and under that, a tag called "[Name] Memorial Fund". I tagged the donations we received with this Tag.

I would like to be able to export a detailed report so we can send acknowledgement letters to those patrons. Ideally, the report should include the address of the customer and the amount of the donation. (That way, I can make a Mail Merge document in Microsoft Word with this information.) Is there a way to do this? I have checked the filters for the "Customer Detail" report, and there is no filter option for Tags. The report on the Tags page under the Banking tab does not include customer address information.

Is there any way to do this? Should I make this a Class rather than a Tag?

Upon further research, it seems like Classes are a better method than Tags for tracking a specific donor fund.

Hi treasurer23,

Welcome to Community! In QuickBooks Online, you can record and track donations as a sales receipt or deposit and then print them individually or as a batch. I'd be happy to help!

To ensure you're able to track funds received from donors accurately, please refer to this guide. With regards to the transactions you've already recorded and tagged, here's how to print a report;

1. Open Reports from the left menu

2. In the Search field, type Transaction List by Tag Group

3. Use the ▼ dropdown menu to select the Report period

4. Select Transaction type for the Group by field

5. Click Customize and then Filter to select other items you'd like on the report

6. Hit Run report

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. I checked this report - it was more helpful to Group by the specific Tag Group I was looking for (Donations).

This brought up a nice report of the Customers' names and donation amounts. It did not, however, include the customers' contact details (such as address). I am looking for a detailed report that includes customer addresses, so I don't have to click on each individual name to look up that information.

I was doing some further research on the forums and found this thread from a few years ago:

This is exactly the feature I'm looking for. Has there been on progress on this over the last 4 years?
