Hello - I'm trying to figure out a way to determine how much I'm invoicing (NOT being paid, but billing OUT) each month for various products. I am in a small office where billings for different providers are listed as different "products" in QBO, and I want to be able to see at a glance who is billing out how much, for each month. Can anyone help with this?
Larissa
Hi Lmeadwescott,
Welcome to the community family! QuickBooks Online offers tons of great financial reports so you can view important information about your business. I'll be happy to share more on this.
The Invoice List report in the program presents all your invoices (paid and unpaid) by date. You also have the option to customize this report to only view Paid or Unpaid invoices, as well as selecting a specific period or customer you want to analyze. To access this report, go to the Reports menu, scroll down to the Who owes you section in the Standard tab, and select the report to open it. Feel free to also explore other reports you'd like. Apart from browsing the report list, you can locate a report by using the Find report by name search bar. To customize a report, simply follow these steps.
If you don't need any customization, follow steps 1-3 above and click on Run report afterward. To learn more about how to run and/or customize reports in QuickBooks Online, here are some articles.
I hope this helps! Have a great day.
Thank you for the response - but this solution does not give the information I was looking for. I basically need to be able to filter this report by product/service, but that is not listed as an option. Any other ideas?
Hello Larissa. I can take it from here. I have a report that may work for you so that you can see not only the invoices sent out to your customers by have the information grouped by product or service. I recommend pulling up the Sales by Product/Service Detail report. This report will, by default, show both sales receipts and invoices, but using the steps my colleague gave for customizing a report, you can filter for only invoices. I'll outline it below just in case you need the step-by-step.
Doing this will refresh the report to show you only the invoices for the product and service. If you're using class tracking or custom fields to show who is making the sales to your customers or for any other reason, you can even include them in your customization. While you're customizing, also click the Rows/Columns section, then Change columns. Check off the ones you'd like to make sure you're displaying the information you need.
Similarly to this report, there is also a Purchases by Product/Service Detail report that you can use to see which products have been billed to you and then also see the supplier who billed them.
I have an article here that may help with having a clearer sense of the reports available to you in the product. Feel free to check it out: What are the differences in report features among QuickBooks Online subscriptions? This article includes a list of reports and shows you which plans have them.
I hope that report is better suited to what you're looking for and that this helps. Don't hesitate if you have further questions, though!
