Hi,
I am using Quickbooks Desktop.
I am looking for any tool (3rd party tool) that can generate General Journal IIF files (from an excel file) with GST Input tax credit.
I have been looking for ways to handle GST Input tax credit in journal entries for a few years, but have not been able to find a solution.
Please let me know if there is such a tool.
Thanks
Paul
Explore these importer tools. You can import data from XLS format and you don't need converting it to IIF.

I looked at those and other tools, but none appears to support "HST/GST Input Tax Credit (ITC)".
I have talked to Quickbooks support and currently, there is no way to specify "TAX ITEM" in the IIF file for the general journal entries. I doubt any of the tools will do what I am looking for.
Please let me know if anyone personally experienced a tool that supports ITC.
thanks
There is no tax field available on JE. As of 2008, Intuit dropped support for setting Tax1Total and Tax2Total via the QBSDK. As a workaround, you may utilize the Sales Tax Code (set to a valid tax or VAT code) on each line in Invoice template prior to importing it into QQBD. You should ask this workaround with Support team of the apps I mentioned earlier.
I am not sure why you mention "invoice template". My original posting is about general journal entries with "tax item" to capture HST/GST Input Tax Credit (ITC). The ITC happens during purchase whereas invoicing happens during sales. These are different activities capturing a different set of data.
Thanks for your response, but not relevant to my original posting.
Hi Paul2017.
Picking the best third party app for your needs is a great way to customize your QuickBooks Desktop experience. I'd be happy to point you in the right direction to get the right third party app for your needs.
QuickBooks Desktop makes syncing a third party app easy so you can add new features and abilities to use. I recommend looking through our third party apps page to find an app that can help you import your information directly into your company file. It's best to read the reviews for them to make sure it suits your needs as well as it works with the Canadian version of QuickBooks Desktop as well.
If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
