Hi there,
I see you've been with us for a long time and I appreciate your loyalty! I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction with downgrading your membership.
If you're referring to downgrading your subscription plan, here's how:
If the Downgrade link is unavailable on the Billing and Subscription tab, you can contact our support team using this link here.
If you have other questions, feel free to leave a comment below, I'll be happy to help.
Hi there
unfortunately you haven’t actually answered my question.
if I chose to downgrade my plan what actually happens to all my invoices and data from the past Yrs?
does this data get transferred to a lower version subscription? so I can always see my past history (ie client invoices of 2012, 2014 etc) or
if I will loose my data how can I export all my invoices since I’ve been a member. I’d like to save all my transactions somewhere before they are lost.
Hello bvaez,
Welcome back. I can appreciate following up on this thread. I want to make sure you have all the information you need moving forward when it comes to downgrading and what data is in your account.
Having access to your past records is essential, and I'm happy to report that in downgrading your account, you will retain all the data that you previously entered. Depending on what features you were using and whether they're available in the lower QuickBooks Online package, the way you see and access that data may be changed slightly, but you won't be starting fresh in a brand new account.
When you downgrade, the program will show you what, if any, features are going to be turned off and how it will affect the transactions created using those features. The following article also outlines other important details about downgrading, so I recommend taking a moment to read it over: Downgrade your QuickBooks Online plan
Give me a shout if you have more questions!
Thanks for your re-assurance that as a Canadian online customer I will *NOT* lose my past invoice data if I downgrade to the self employment account.
Now I tried to follow the directions you've shared however, I have no ability to select or even see billing on my account settings page.
Could you kindly process the downgrade for me or let me know what else is required to enable it on my end.
Thanks,
Bailey
EasyStart is the lowest plan in QB Online. QB SE is a diifferent product and no migration path yet. You have to open a NEW QBSE account.

Hope it clarifies.
If I need the data to be transferred (past Yrs invoices) perhaps easy start is the only way to go forward for now. Is that right? If yes can we move forward with the downgrade?
thank you
Hi Bailey. Since there's no direct conversion from QBO to QBSE, you'll have to manually export your data out of QBO and import it into QBSE.
You can export your data out QBO by following these steps:
Once done, you can now import your .CSV file into QBSE. Here's how:
For additional reference, you can check this article:Import transactions from other sources.
If you need further assistance with the steps, you can reach out to our QB Self-Employed Support through this link: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support.
Company may said that they will keep to safeguard your past data once you have downgraded to QBO ES. But I would recommend you to export all the report and data out first prior to do so.
Hello again Bailey,
I see we've got a lot of input on this thread, which is great! Hopefully it's helping you gain a better understanding of your options.
Fiat Lux's idea of exporting the reports and other information you need just to be sure you have records for all the data you want is never a bad idea. I'll leave you with our article for QuickBooks Online about how to do that: Export reports, lists, and more
My colleague James has given good tips for working with transferring data between QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed. It's important to note that the two programs handle data differently, so not all of it will be transferrable from one to the other, but you may be able to import some of the details in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
I wanted to make sure as well you have an answer for why you're note seeing the option to downgrade in your QuickBooks Online account. Typically, there are two things that would prevent you from changing your subscription: being on Android or Apple billing or being under your accountant's billing. Generally speaking, Android or Apple billing only has the EasyStart option, so you'd already be on the lowest plan. If you're under your accountant's billing, that means they're the one in control of your subscription, so it's best to check with them to talk about changing it.
If you're still having trouble and would like to downgrade, give QuickBooks Online support a shout so an agent can take a closer look at your account. There are a few options to choose from, so choose the best contact method for you below.
Phone and Chat: Click Contact Us to learn how to reach phone and chat support.
Schedule a Callback: click (?)Help in the upper right > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback (Note: Callback hours are the same as regular phone hours.)
Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET
Please note as well that QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed have separate support teams since they're separate systems. A QuickBooks Online agent will gladly help you with your Online account, but won't be able to answer questions about Self-Employed. To get help with that, please reach out to Self-Employed support.
All the best to you!
Thank you for your help. I've just downloaded my data and will need to cancel this account before I can move to self employed.
I am now encountering 2 other issues (this seems to be never ending lol)
1- I can not cancel my account anywhere - The control of the account is by me only, I didn't buy it on itunes and can not see any billing on my account settings. I also can not have anyone call me as I am living in Sri Lanka right now so don't have a call back number. Is there no other way to cancel my account? I can not chat with them as they don't give me the option.
2- I want to purchase self employed version for Canadian customers but since I am in Sri Lanka the quick website keeps taking me to the Sri Lanka offers and doesn't allow me to purchase the Canada plan??? Is there anyway around this.
Thanks,
Bailey

Hi Bailey. I hope you're enjoying the warm weather in Sri Lanka. I can see how the website would be redirecting you to the Sri Lankan site but don't worry, I'll help figure this out. Could I have you try to access this link using a private/incognito window: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/ca/pricing/. The link should bring you to the Canadian site. If you're still having issue with this, I advise contacting our support team using this link here.
You have clicked a link to a site outside of the QuickBooks or ProFile Communities. By clicking "Continue", you will leave the community and be taken to that site instead.
