Sometimes you have a customer who is also a supplier. This is typical of some businesses, and it's important that QuickBooks Online can accommodate this situation. I'll help explain the easy process of adding someone as a customer as well as a supplier.
You'll have to set this person up twice in your account, once as a customer, and separately as a supplier.
To set them up as a customer, follow these steps:
1. Click the Sales tab.
2. Select Customers from the top menu.
3. Click New customer.
Next, set them up as a supplier:
1. Click the Expenses tab.
2. Select the Suppliers tab on the top menu.
3. Click New supplier.
NOTE: You'll have to slightly change the name when you enter the same person twice, because you're unable to have the exact same name set up for a customer and a supplier. For example, you can write "John Doe" in the customer profile, and "John Doe 2" in the supplier profile.
