Just wondering how the fees for accepting online payments work?
Is there different % for different types of cards (ie: gold, travel or platinum etc)?
Hi there,
Accepting payments online is one of the best ways to make your job simple! QuickBooks Payments allows your customers to pay directly within their invoice by clicking Pay Now. I'd be happy to explain the payment options as well as the fees.
With QuickBooks Payments, you can pay by Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, and Discover. Each method of payment will include a fee of 2.9% + 25 cents per transaction, regardless of the type of card used.
For more information about QuickBooks Payments, please review our website here: QuickBooks Payments.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Just trying to compare with my currant provider, Elavon and trying to compare rates and such.
If I read everything correctly then QuickBooks does not accept debit cards?
The only fees with QuickBooks is the 2.9% plus the 25 cents?
You got it, al09! Those are the only fees involved.
If you're looking for a solution for debit transactions, I'd recommend using a third-party app. You can see a list of compatible payments solutions here: https://apps.intuit.com/app/apps/home.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
You may get 2.5% + 30c when you use this 3rd party app to accept domestic credit card payments

So if I had a transaction of $40,000 I would be charged $1,160?!
Hi there heavyduty,
Having a sense of the fees associated with the services you're using is a perfect way to keep on top of your expenses as a business owner. I can see this is an important question for you since you've also asked it on another thread, and that makes sense, especially if your business works with large customer transactions.
As my colleague clarified on the other thread you posted to, QuickBooks Payments' current fees are 2.9% of the transaction you're running through the system + $0.25. For a transaction of $40,000, that would work out to $1,160.25. The Intuit Canada Merchant Agreement outlines these fees and other important information about using this service.
I know evaluating the price of services is essential, and I encourage you to do your research before jumping in. If you do choose to go with QuickBooks Payments for QuickBooks Online, here's our page that can get you started: QuickBooks Online Payments
If you decide to go with another service, you may still be able to connect that with QuickBooks Online using a third-party app via the Apps tab in product or with an integration from that service. That way, you can still easily track the transactions in your books.
I hope this has helped clear things up. Don't hesitate to ask more questions.
You can ask for infomation here
Can payments be made with P-cards? Same fee?
Hi there Mary375,
It's important to know which types of cards are accepted by QuickBooks Payments so you can know which methods your customers can use to pay for your services. QuickBooks Online makes it easy for you to accept payments from your clients by credit card directly in the invoice you've sent them. I can provide some information on this.
The fee for all accepted card types is 2.9% plus an additional $0.25 per transaction. In order to see all the specific card types accepted by QuickBooks Payments, I recommend reviewing the Intuit Canada Merchant Agreement, as they are all outlined here.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
Is there a way to automatically pass on the processing fees to the customer as per the recent changes in regulations in Canada?
If you want to implement it immediately, having a 3rd party merchant service is the only way. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for QB Payments to offer this feature and who knows when.
