How can the currency on a sales invoice be changed from CAD to USD just one-time?

The main currency in our chart of accounts is Canadian Dollar (CAD). However, there may be times when we may need to invoice a foreign customer in USD. How can we change the currency on the sales invoice document for these specific one-time situations? Thanks a lot.

Hi @doyourverybest1026

Quickbooks has great apps that will help you get set up in changing currencies. At this moment, you are unable to change currencies through Quickbooks.

@doyourverybest1026

You have to enable the multi currency feature and create a new profile for your customer to release an invoice in USD. Another option, utilize these apps to deal with multicurrency transactions

Hello doyourverybest1026!

Thanks for reaching out and sharing a bit of your situation with us. Being able to use multiple currencies in your books is a great asset, and I want to make sure you have the correct information moving forward with this in QuickBooks Online for Canada. I'm here to help and share resources about working with multiple currencies in this edition of the program.

I'm happy to share that QuickBooks Online Canada does indeed have a multicurrency option that you can turn on and use for instances where you have customers that need to be invoiced in a separate currency. The beauty of it is that you can set up your customer for that currency so that each time you make a transaction for them, the program will automatically know which currency to use.

You can also assign currencies to other areas of the program as well, including accounts and suppliers. You don't need an extra app to do this, and you can learn how it's done by starting with our About Multicurrency article. This gives you an overview, and then takes you through various ways foreign currencies can be used in QuickBooks Online Essentials and Plus.

That should get you on your way, but don't hesitate to ask more questions if you have them. I'd be glad to answer them!
