How do I resolve WSIB discrepancy. QB thinks it was overpaid but payment was correct?

I did a jornal entry to add the missing amount that was paid, but when I go to payroll tax centre it did not pick it up to resolve.

Hi there kphil,

Thanks for reaching out about your payroll. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help you keep track of employee deductions and company contributions so you know the amount owed to the government. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with this difference.

In QuickBooks Online, a journal entry isn't able to affect the payroll tab. What would need to be done would be a payroll edit as the balance owing is an addition of the amount contributed for every paycheque. You'd need to find which exact paycheques have a difference, to then contact the QuickBooks Online Payroll support team outside of the Community to create a pay edit request. They'll be able to assist in getting this information changed so your total is matching the payment. You can reach them using these steps:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social Media: Facebook and X / Twitter
