To clarify from the start, I am a business located in Canada with all of my transactions occurring in Canada. Also, this is equal parts of a rant and a question.
I need to accept payments outside of my office location. I have loaded the mobile app on my iPhone but it does not provide the option to select a payment type from the invoice. After much searching (and a call to support who told me to uninstall and then install again) others have told me this is an iPhone lack of feature in the app. I have since installed the app on an android device and the payment feature now appears so I can manually enter the CC information.
I would like to add the CC reader to my device as advertised on the QuickBooks page. All of the Google links point me to pages that support the GoPayment app which apparently is not available in Canada. Also, the reader that shows up in these searches also promotes the "first device" is included in your subscription but I have now found that this is not available in Canada and that no reader is even available for purchase in Canada.
WOW Intuit! When are you going to support retail commerce in Canada? You seem to be pushing people to use Square and then "import" the data from Square to QuickBooks. I need a single source of data collection and processing. As a small business I want to focus on my business as well as ensuring that I can accurately and efficiently process my books. Relying on multiple applications and data importing is prone to failure (as evidenced in your last update to the Square import app). Canada is not some far off land with obscure and radically archaic systems. When will you not only provide mobile POS functionality in Canada as you do in the USA through GoPayments, educate your support personnel on the differences for Canadian users and ultimately eliminate the need to "import" from 3rd party payment processors via the addition of card reader support for your application?

Thanks for the reply JamesM4.
I have asked for this to be a feature suggestion when speaking with customer support on the phone but they don't seem to realize that it is not a feature in Canada. For some reason they (the 2 reps I have spoken with) don't understand that Canada is not part of the USA and that we don't have the gopayment app and associated reader available to us. After several days of searching for solutions I finally found this forum where I have seen posts going back several years from Canadians with the same issue and asking for this feature, and being told to use the gear icon to suggest it.
As someone who comes from the software industry (more that 15 years in industrial applications) before retiring, I understand that development requires prioritizing but the frustration level of Intuit's customers in Canada is elevated when the support people don't understand the differences in the features which separate the continent. Hence the part of my post which I will classify as a "rant"
I have made the suggestion as well through the feedback link as you have suggested.
