Hey there Misty5707,

It's always a pleasure to see new faces in the Community, Welcome! Thanks for reaching out to us here. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help keep your books balanced. I would be happy to provide some more information.

Once you've set up your sales tax rates, you can set default tax codes to your inventory items. This is where you can choose to make the item inclusive of tax, so it automatically applies to your forms, invoices, sales receipts. Here is a helpful guide on how to add a sales tax category to your products and services. If you require further assistance, I recommend reaching out to the support team outside of the Community as they have the ability to view your screen to better assist you.  You can reach them by following one of these methods:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social Media: Facebook and Twitter

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.

Thank you for the reply I was looking for expenses to include tax as the default, so I don't have to take out the tax each time I manual post an expense in QBO for related parties.

Hi there Misty5707,

You can set up a default sales tax on purchases for each product and service individually by going to the Sales tab, then Products and Services. Click edit beside a product for which you'd like to add a default tax, then below the Purchasing information, you can set a Purchase tax.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
