Hi info-trilliumost,
Being able to do your work from anywhere is a great benefit for business owners that work on the go. The good news is QuickBooks Self-Employed equips you with the flexibility you need to complete your work from anywhere as long as you have internet. I'll be glad to share more info about the tax module.
Based on the info you've provided, it sounds like you've already set up your taxes. With QB Self-Employed, you have the option to opt out from applying GST/HST tax to specific invoices in situations where items are GST/HST free as mandated by the government. I recommend reaching out to your accountant for expert advice in order to prevent discrepancies in your books. If you're not in contact with one, I encourage you to search for one on our website using this link here. At this time, you can change the taxes on an invoice and here's how:
two ways to change the sales tax on your invoices
In the meantime, check out this tax overview article here with more info on how to manage your taxes in QuickBooks. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have questions. I'm here to help.
The reply from the Quickbooks employee doesn't answer the question. This is a real problem and Quickbooks should fix it - There is no way to do enter the correct HST amount when there is a tip included on the receipt and that's a Quickbooks problem, not an accounting question.
