Hello useracuhardware1,
Working with sales tax in QuickBooks Online is an easy task once you know the steps to take. It's important to me that you're able to set up and use the sales tax codes you need for your transactions, and I'd be happy to show you how it's done.
Once you've gone through the initial setup of sales tax in QuickBooks Online, it's possible to easily add new codes, whether existing codes or custom ones for your business, to your books. After a code has been set up, you'll see it among the options to select from the Sales tax drop-down menus on transactions and in other features throughout the program. Here's a helpful article for adding sales tax codes for provinces, territories, or for your custom needs: How to set up a new sales tax code. This article is great because it not only outlines the steps, but explains the difference between the different options.
When you're ready, you can create an invoice in QuickBooks and add the sales tax to it from the drop-down menu in the column I mentioned above. That should get you on your way!
I'll be around if you have more questions, so don't hesitate to ask them. :)
