Is there a way to record GST in 2 separate accounts (GST due on sales and Input tax credits) rather than the 1 combined GST/HST Payable account?

The combined account makes it very difficult to find a discrepancy.

Hi userqueenie,

Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks is a versatile program that helps you streamline your work using the powerful features offered in the program. Rest assured, I'll be happy to share more info so you're on the right track.

The  function you've described above isn't available. I can see the benefit of having this function and I encourage you to send feedback about this to our engineers. You can send feedback by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. I also recommend consulting an accounting specialist for expert suggestion on recording the transactions in separate account. This ensures your books remain accurate while you continue to manage your work with peace of mind. You can also get in touch with a professional using this link here. Other accounting professionals are able to see this post in the Community and this will allow them to chime in.
