How do I remove a sales tax? It was created by mistake and it's causing a glitch

I need to remove one of the sales tax that was created.  Is there an option to do so?

Thanks for turning to the QuickBooks Community for support. I'd be happy to help!

 

QuickBooks Online provides the option to create custom tax codes. At this time, there isn't a way to completely delete a sales tax code. However, If you accidentally created a tax code that you dont need, you can make it inactive. By doing this, it will hide the tax code from the drop down menu on all transactions. Let me show you how!

 

  1. Go to "Taxes" and select "Sales tax" 
  2. Select "Manage sales tax".
  3. On the "Tax agencies tab", locate the tax agency associated with the sales tax rate you wish to make inactive.
  4. Select "Make inactive" in the Actions column next to the rate you wish to make inactive.
  5. You'll know the sales tax rate has been deactivated when you see Make active in the Actions column for that sales tax rate.

To reactivate the sales tax rate at any time, select "Make active" in the Action column. Here's a guide for reference.
