Would like to file 2022 GST/HST but the year for filing seems to already be 2023 - however there is no previous return filed to view and we did not file it - what gives?

It's nice to see you in Community.  Welcome!  It's essential that you're able to file and pay your sales tax seamlessly.  When you're ready to file your first return in QuickBooks Online, you can choose the starting date.  I'd be glad to assist!

Here's how to set the filing dates;

1. Open Taxes and then Sales tax from the left menu

2. Click on Prepare return

3. Use the ▼ dropdown menu to select the Filing period

4. Enter the Start date, End date and Filing date

5. Review the line items and hit Mark as filed

You'll now see the correct dates for filing your returns.
