This course includes a show-n-tell experience detailing the use of QuickBooks Desktop, plus features new to QuickBooks Desktop 2020 such as customer payment reminders, improved job and class reports, smart help and easy version upgrades. Module 1: QuickBooks Overview

This training module begins with an overview QuickBooks, the different solutions offered, and what they offer for our clients and the accounting professionals who support them and their businesses. Next, the presenter discusses file compatibility considerations, important for the accounting professional that will be working with multiple clients whom use the popular QuickBooks software.

Module 2: QuickBooks Chart of Accounts and Items

his module provides step-by-step workflow demonstrations for working with the QuickBooks Chart of Accounts.The presenter includes an overview of Items and tips for navigating the Item List and setting up different types of Items. Next, the presenter covers special Item types such as Group Items and Inventory Assemblies. Lastly, the presenter walks through various in-product demonstrations for setting up and using Units of Measure.

Module 3: Setup and Customize a Data File

This module provides step-by-step workflow demonstrations for creating a new company file, and for upgrading and converting data files to the current version year of QuickBooks. The presenter review show to setup Lists of various kinds and how to enter data so that a Profit & Loss by Class report can be generated, as well as how to identify profitable customers and jobs. Then, the module will focus on ensuring that opening balances after creating a new QuickBooks data file are correct, how to verify the opening numbers and make corrections if required, and how to enter historical transactions if required. Lastly, the presenter demonstrates how to customize QuickBooks by setting preferences, setting up users and passwords, closing periods, using custom fields and customizing forms.

Module 4: Sales and Receivables

This module begins with an overview of QuickBooks Sales forms. The presenter provides multiple in-product workflow demonstrations for managing sales and receivable functions. In addition, participants will complete this module with a clear understanding of how to set up QuickBooks to track sales tax and to correct related common client errors.

Module 5: Disbursements, Payables and Banking

This module begins with an overview of how to work with QuickBooks disbursements and payable functions. This includes how to how to record various types of expenditures and recommended steps to adjust inventory in QuickBooks. In addition, participants should complete this module with a clear understanding of how to navigate various banking functions, including transferring funds, connecting banking transactions to a QuickBooks company and how to reconcile bank and other accounts.

Module 6: Understanding the Basics of Job Costing

This module begins with a discussion of the many lists in QuickBooks and how each list improves the use of QuickBooks efficiently for job costing and job profitability reporting. You will learn considerations to be made when setting up the Customer or Job structure in QuickBooks.

Module 7: Setting Up and Using Payroll and Time Tracking

This module begins with an overview of the various payroll service offerings and their benefits for clients and accountants. The presenter then discusses navigating the features and workflow found in the Payroll Center.

Module 8: Reporting & Other Communications in QuickBooks

This module begins with the basics of accessing reports and printing them. The differences among the three basic report types (summary, transaction and list) are described, as well as preferences related to reports and graphs. The presenter then goes on to detail various report modifications and customizations that are available, as well as steps to record comments to reports. Report organization, including the memorization, grouping, and running report groups is then covered, along with the new functionality of QuickBooks to allow for multiple reports to be attached to a single e-mail. The presenter then covers exporting information from QuickBooks and Word and Excel. Areas of particular interest to accounting professionals are then described, including resolving reporting discrepancies, the QuickBooks Statement Writer, and reports for accountants. Class reporting is then covered, including the Profit & Loss by Class and Balance Sheet by Class reports. Lastly, new reporting features in QuickBooks 2019 are reviewed.

You are investing your time in learning how to use your QuickBooks Desktop Accountant software. In this module you will learn about accounting specific tools you can use at your office or while working at the client’s site. Work more efficiently and accurately with your client’s QuickBooks Desktop files.

This module methodically covers the new features in the various editions of QuickBooks Desktop for 2019. The presenter discusses and demonstrates the features that are new and improved for QuickBooks Desktop users. QuickBooks Desktop offers smarter business tools helping the growing business manage their financials.
