Introduction to QuickBooks Online for Accountants

This course will provide a basic understanding of how QuickBooks Online Accountant works with client files, so users can navigate the basic features of the product, perform basic tasks and have an awareness of the Intuit product family.

Learning objectives:

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize how to navigate QuickBooks Online Accountant to manage your clients and your practice all in one place
  • Navigate your client’s QuickBooks Online company and be aware that you can extend its functionality through apps and the ecosystem
  • Perform basic money in transactions in your client’s QuickBooks Online company
  • Perform basic money out transactions in your client’s QuickBooks Online company
  • Describe the benefits of using bank feeds to clients

Module 1: Getting started in QuickBooks Online Accountant

The module begins with an introduction to Intuit as a brand and their product portfolio. The module then shows how to sign up for a QuickBooks Online Accountant account and then log in. The module closes with a high level description of what QuickBooks Online Accountant does and an overview of some of the key features in the Accountant dashboard and the top navigation toolbar.

Module 2: Navigating your clients’ QuickBooks Online

The module starts by explaining about the structure of a QuickBooks company and how to navigate the key areas and core features. It then moves on to look at other topics, including using the dashboard to gain insight into a business’ financial health and recent transactions. The module closes with an overview of the benefits of using the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

Module 3: Sales

The module starts by showing how to access a client’s accounts from within QuickBooks Online Accountant. The module then explains about the structure of a QuickBooks company and how to navigate the key areas and core features. Other topics include using the dashboard to gain insight into a business’ financial health and recent transactions. The module closes with an overview of the benefits of using the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

Module 4: Expenses

The module begins by introducing the Expense Center and how to navigate around it. The module will present how to add new expenses and suppliers, how and when to use bills and how to pay a bill. Finally, the module closes with an explanation of how to assess expense activity.

Module 5: Bringing clients into QuickBooks Online Accountant

The module begins with an overview of the Bank Feeds functionality and it’s associated benefits to clients. The module then explains the different ways to add a client to QuickBooks Online Accountant. Finally, the module closes by outlining the other core features of QuickBooks Online Accountant that you can learn about in the QuickBooks Online Certification course.
