Hi scheyne-whistler,
Welcome to Community! QuickBooks Online banking features include additional options to ensure your transactions are recorded accurately. I'd be happy to provide assistance with your transfers.
Follow these steps to correct the transactions:
1. From the left menu open Banking or Transactions
2. Select the tile for the Account and the Date range
3. Above the Action column, click on the small Gear
4. In the Transaction details section, remove the checkmark for Enable suggested categorization
In addition, I recommend opening the Rules tab to ensure there aren't any rules associated with the names you've mentioned above.
Should you continue to experience the same outcome, please don't hesitate to contact us. It would be our pleasure to work with you in real time and get you back to what you love.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Thank you, I have made this change and hope it will work for future transactions. Do you know how I amend all transactions that it has already assigned the incorrect description to that are either waiting to be categorized or already categorized?
Hello scheyne-whistler. To make sure I'm on the same page as you, is it the description only that's been affected?
That's right, just the description, I've not been able to figure out how to change it as it is not clickable. What's weird is that we have never had a Chapters Indigo transaction nor have a customer/tag with it either.
I see what you're saying. You'll have to manually edit the transfers so they display the correct info. Here's how:
From here you'll see a list of your transfers. You can manually edit the transfers by click on Edit after selecting the transfer. I also recommend looking into third-party apps that can help you with bulk editing transactions in QuickBooks.
You can search for third-party apps on our website using this link here. I recommend choosing an app that suits your business needs based on the app description and reviews.
You're more than welcome to ask other questions, I'm here to help you achieve your QuickBooks goals.
Thanks for the advice, I have followed this process but there is no 'Description' filed to edit for each transaction.
It's that field that is showing up incorrectly and I can't find where to edit it.
Hi scheyne-whistler,
Welcome back! Your banking is a vital part of your business and it's important that your past transactions are recorded accurately. I'd be glad to assist you with meeting your QuickBooks Online banking goal!
Here's how to to edit the description on previous transactions:
1. Open Banking or Transactions from the left navigation bar
2. Select the Account and then open the Categorized tab
3. Check all transactions that you'd like to change the description for and then hit Undo
4. The transactions are now in the For Review tab and you can proceed to edit the description
Note: If your transactions will have the same categorization, you may find it easier to create a bank rule, so you can perform the action in a batch. This will also automatically be applied to future transactions and save a significant amount of time.
If you have any other questions, please reach back out. We're here for you!
