Upgrading BMO Account Connection

What do I need to do to merge the original account (pre-OAUTH authentication) with the new one that got created. I only want the one bank account account in QB.

Upgrading BMO Account Connection

Hi d-at-bhd,

 

Thanks for joining us here.  QuickBooks Online provides the ability to merge bank accounts, so your chart of accounts remains organized.  I'd be happy to help!

 

Please be advised that merging accounts cannot be undone.  In addition, I recommend saving your reconciliation reports first. The reconciliation history may not be saved, but the transactions will remain on the merged account and stay reconciled.

 

Follow these steps to merge accounts;

 

1. Open your Settings ⚙, then select the Chart of Accounts

2. Find the account you want to keep and use the dropdown ▼ in the Action column to select Edit
3. Take a screenshot or note the Account Type, Name, and Detail Type. These must be exactly the same between the accounts you'll be merging

4. If the Is sub-account option is marked, note the parent account it's tied to

5. Go back to the Chart of Accounts and locate the duplicate account 

6. Use the dropdown ▼ in the Action column and hit Edit

7. Change the Name and Detail Type so the duplicate account matches the account you want to keep exactly. 

Note; If you need to mark Is sub-account, keep in mind:

  • If you're merging two parent accounts, make sure they don’t have any sub-accounts.
  • If you're merging two sub-accounts, make sure they both have the same parent account.
  • If only one is a sub-account, uncheck the Is sub-account option so it becomes a parent account.  

8.Hit Save and then Yes to confirm.
