Offcycle final paycheque

I need to run a final cheque for my employee. What's the best way to run an off cycle pay cheque? And is there a way I can add their termination date?

Offcycle final paycheque

Hi there CaritasCo,

Making sure that your employee gets their final is an important part of running your business. QuickBooks Online payroll is a great tool that helps you keep track of the amount paid to each employee and can display it in multiple reports. I can help you out with your final pay.

In order to run your final paycheck for an employee, you can select the Run payroll option in the Payroll tab. In the section to run payroll, make sure to uncheck every employee that you don't want to pay and select the Pay period in which the employee worked their last shift. You can pick a Pay date that is different than your regular Pay date for that employee, and then enter their hours. If you have some vacation left to pay them you can follow the steps in the section titled How do I pay out accrued vacation in a payroll run? of the linked article.

Once your employee's pay has gone through, you can make them inactive by finding them in your Employee section and clicking on their name. Click on the Pencil Icon located next to the Employment section, and you can make their status as inactive as well as add a termination date.

If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out here.

Offcycle final paycheque

Hi Alex,

Thank you so much.

I just want to clarify one more thing: Am I able to run the regularly scheduled payroll for the rest of the employees that I uncheck?

Hi CaritasCo. Glad to hear back from you. You're still able to run the regular scheduled payroll for the rest of the employees that you uncheck. You'd just have to run the payroll as you normally would.  Let me know if you need help with that.
