I'm using time entries in QBO to track billable time for employees. Some employees have the billable checkbox checked by default and some don't. I can't find the employee billable by default checkbox anywhere in the employee setup. How can I make all employee time billable by default?

Hello,
Creating time entries in QuickBooks Online makes it so simple to keep track of the hours worked by your employee. You have to option to make this time cost billable to your customer with the click of a button. I'd be happy to explain why some of your employees are defaulted to appear as Billable, while others may not be.
This is based off of the employee's previous time activity. If you used the Billable field last time you created a time activity, this will remain checked off for the next one you create. If you check off the box for Billable, this setting will remain the same moving forward.
For more information about single time activities, take a look at this article: Enter a single time activity timesheet.
I hope this helps make sense of this setting. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to our tech support team for further assistance.
Cheers.

How do I set all employee time to billable by default, to eliminate the billable option in the Time app? I am syncing to desktop version of QB Enterprise.
Hello jemaldonado,
Being able to set defaults for your books is a great way to save time, so I can appreciate wanting to set a default for your time tracking entries in QuickBooks Enterprise so you don't have to manually check the option each time. I can show you how it's done so you can minimize the amount of work you're completing in your books.
In QuickBooks Desktop, including Enterprise, there's a setting you can toggle in your company file's Preferences to mark all time as billable. Here's are the steps to follow.
Now, the next time you create a time tracking entry, the billable option will automatically be selected when you begin to fill in the details. As for how this will work with the app you're using, I recommend consulting that app's team to ensure that this will work the way you're expecting it to. If you're using QuickBooks Time, check out these articles to learn more about the integration.
I hope this has helped! I wish you the best with this. :)
Not helpful, those boxes were already checked. I would like there to be no billable option in the Time Card app, just have it all default to billable.
Thanks for clarifying what you're looking for. It sounds like the setting you want would be in the Time Card app's side of things, so I strongly recommend reaching out to the support team for that app to learn how to configure the settings the way you're looking for. When you're working with an app that integrates or syncs with QuickBooks, it's important to address things from the app perspective because that makes a difference in how the two programs work together and share information. Apps are often designed by third-party developers, and their teams are specifically trained to get you back on track with your setup and using the app, so don't hesitate to give them a shout.
Hi jemaldonado,
Did you ever get an answer to this? I've looked everywhere and read everything on-line with no result.
Also, they told you to talk to the app developer but then gave no contact information! Ugg!
Monaka
How do we contact the "third party" app developer?
Hi Monaka. Welcome back to the Community. I'll be happy to point you in the right direction so you can get the support you need. I'd recommend contacting your third-part app support team through the contact info provided on their website or through their app. If you'd like, I can search for the third-party app support contact info on my end. To make sure I'm on the same page as you, which app are you reaching out about?
Hi JamesM4,
