Hi there PatAnd,
Making sure that your invoices are correctly accounted for is an important part of managing your sales. QuickBooks Online is a great tool to help your keep track of the money owed to you by your customers. I can provide some insight.
The feature to automatically add late fees to invoices isn't available in the Canadian version of QuickBooks Online. I can see how this feature would be something that can help you get paid faster. If you would want to see this possibly added to QuickBooks Online, I recommend you leave feedback by clicking the Gear Icon, then Feedback. Comments made in this section are considered when the developers design new features for QuickBooks Online.
If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out here.

Thank you for your response, I have sent in the request.
I honestly can't believe this isn't already a feature. Even worse that it is a feature already integrated into your software but just not made available based on region. This, amongst other reasons, has me seriously considering a move to Sage or some other solution. SMH.
Hi SESSIONSHIGHLIFE,
I appreciate you touching base on this thread. It's important that your voice is heard. I can understand how automatically applying late fees would be a time saver for all. However, QuickBooks Online Canada currently doesn't have this feature available. As previously suggested, you could reach out to our Development Team by clicking on the Gear and hit Feedback to submit a recommendation. The greater the demand, the higher the chance this becomes available moving forward. I hope this proves to be helpful!
Please reach back out if you have any other questions. We're here for you!
We are in exactly the same boat.
We need the ability to add late fees, that's available in the U.S. but not Canada.
We'd like to be able to have client invoices reviewed before they're sent out. Also available in the U.S. but not Canada.
It's freaking frustrating given that the features are clearly already coded, and the features aren't made available.
I'd love a straight answer from intuit on why that is.
I think they are just lazy. I spoke with people from the US and Canada... a completely different experience. Our neighbors to the south were more knowledgeable and helpful than our "friendly Canadians"! half of the time, with the Canadian team I ended up looking for solutions myself.
I need project numbers in my columns... thing that, others have. I can work without it for now, but it seems that was another issue that has been going around for a few years... no one gives 2 craps! I was with Sage, dont move in, it is not worth it. Look for something else.
They release the "new" features but happens that they dont work here. I've sent invoices/estimates to people and they dont have the link to accept or pay it... go figures...
This is extremely frustrating and has me considering moveing to Sage. Come on QBO you can do better!!
It's now 2023 and there is no option for these automatic late fees. If the US version has it already, why is it taking so long for the Canadian version to get it?
How has this Feature STILL not available on the Canadian version? You cant still be developing it as you have it for the USA version. Flip the switch, make our lives easier.
Hi there Mimar sheet metals,
It's vital that you get paid for the services you provide your customers. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you create and send invoices to your customers. I can provide some information about late fees.
There are differences between the different versions of QuickBooks Online available in different regions. In order to voice your interest in this feature directly to the developers, I recommend putting your feedback in the Gear Icon, then Feedback of your QuickBooks account, as the comments in that section are reviewed by the developers and taken into consideration when planning future updates of QuickBooks Online in Canada.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out here.
With respect, Alex M, I think Intuit should retire that stock response.
Things like late fees have been requested for YEARS and no amount of feedback seems to make a difference.
Note that THIS thread started about 2 years ago. There are others.
The stock response of "put it in feedback" is about the same as saying, "buzz off, we don't care".
From a client perspective: There is no evidence to support the statement that putting comments in feedback will get improvements or results on a timely basis.
Signed ... one frustrated client, Luis.
Are you kidding? Reach out to the developers? Isn’t that what this forum
is for to find help and voice concerns, not to be redirected elsewhere. Put the dang feature in the Canadian version, enough is enough!
Why is this not available in canada?!? Honestly the lack of options (ability to charge late fees, credit card fees - which are basic and standard) has me looking elsewhere.
Agreed. It's ridiculous that QBO hasn't added the option for late fees and credit card processing fees. The canned copy of putting it in the feedback is pathetic. I would like to see one instance were QBO has made an improvement from feedback submitted.
Absolutely ridiculous that this feature STILL isn't available in Canada.
How is this even possible?
