Hi,
I have an employee that has just relocated from Ontario (where the company is located) to BC. In terms of updating their employee file am I best creating a new employee using their new BC address? If so is there any way I can link the new employee to the old one for their YTD Cpp and Ei payments? We are using Quickbooks desktop pro.
Thanks
Hello ansatratos,
I'm happy to learn you're taking advantage of the powerful payroll module in QuickBooks to pay your staff. QuickBooks is designed to reduce the work that's involved when managing your payroll. I'd be glad to share more info about updating an employee's address in the program.
Based on what you've described, I recommend editing the employee's address to the new one by following the steps below:
Following the steps above will ensure that the employee's address is changed and other existing info such as YTD, CPP, and EI Payment amounts won't be affected.
Give this a try and if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach back to me. I'll be one message away in case you need anything else.
Hi James,
Thanks for this. If I change the address etc and update the TD1 for this employee at year end will it generate two T4’s or one combined T4?
No worries. Changing the address and updating the TD1 will result in having two T4's as you're dealing with two different provinces. Feel free to ask questions.
