Exporting a Payroll File to Scotiabank

We have QB Desktop Pro.   Wanting to know if it is possible to create a payroll file in QB that can be exported and then uploaded into our Scotiabank account - wherein we can pay our employees.   Scotiabank says the file format that is uploaded must be in the following format  EFT105ST.    Any help would be appreciated.

Exporting a Payroll File to Scotiabank

Hi there,

QuickBooks is an all-in-one solution for your small business needs. I know how important it is to process payroll in order to get your employees paid. I'll explain how this works in QuickBooks Desktop Pro.

In this case, you would need a third party app to process payroll. Quickbooks currently can export lists to IIF format. You can explore services such as Telpay, however this third-party service isn't designed to work with your bank, but rather with you independently.

I'd be happy to pass along your feedback about this to the product development team for future updates.

If you have any other questions, please reach out to our tech support team directly.

Have a great day.

...so there is no other way to export a payroll file to upload to your bank unless you buy a 3rd party app which does not go through the bank at all.  Can't say I am excited about that as an option.  Any other 3rd party apps other than Telpay that you would recommend who can get the job done?

I found the path to export files to IIF Format...but don't see an option for a Payroll File.   Can you add new reports to the list of available options?...if so - how?

Exporting a Payroll File to Scotiabank

Hi ruffleswest,

I appreciate you taking the time to follow up and how these answers are not what you were looking for. At QuickBooks, it's important to us to be able to offer various features to help our customers achieve their bookkeeping tasks, and when a feature is not yet available, we encourage you to submit feedback. It's as simple as going to the Help menu in Desktop and choosing Send Feedback Online. This lets us know what would help you, and many suggestions made there have become features within the product.

While there isn't a specific app I can recommend, I invite you to explore the QuickBooks Desktop apps available here: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop. The one thing to keep in mind when browsing here is that there are a mix of apps for both the Canadian and US versions of QuickBooks Desktop. If it's not clear whether the one you're looking at is for Canada or not, I recommend reaching out to the app developer to confirm.

As for what you're able to export out of QuickBooks Desktop, I encourage you to review the Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop article. There isn't presently an option to export any kind of payroll EFT105ST file format nor is there an option to export payroll as an IIF file, but the article can familiarize you with the options that are available. You may need to explore ways to produce this kind of file with a third-party app or outside of the program entirely.

Let me know if you'd like more clarification. I'm here to help.
